Job Description:
The Director is responsible for designing and executing strategic and operational priorities of the Operations Department. ALA outsources most of its campus operational needs. The Director and their team manage key contractors and SLAs for facilities, catering, hospitality, security and ground-keeping. The role reports to the Dean of Academy with dotted lines to other executives in our Shared Business Services function.

- Ensure ALA’s campus is fully compliant with all regulations and requirement in relation to its infrastructure.
- Collect and incorporate community feedback on a regular basis.
- Collect, organize, analyse and present data to inform decisions and report on progress.
- Write reports and memos in relation to ALA’s campus infrastructure management and maintenance for/to ALA’s executive team and Board committees as scheduled and required.
- Negotiate service level agreements/contracts with external vendors to secure favorable terms such as best price, superior quality of goods and services and credit terms.
- Develop and organize the operations function to improve planning, communication, and delivery.
- Maintain ALA’s buildings and grounds, and ensure a high standard of safety, cleanliness and efficiency on campus.
- Develop and manage operations department annual budget to ensure appropriate financial commitment to meet the department’s objectives.
- Play an active role in campus development projects, such as small-to-large scale renovation and maintenance of ALA’s
- Learning Commons, Nelson Mandela residence, auditorium, administrative block and other ALA buildings
- Ensure continuous policies and procedures training to ALA community using multiple forums to boost compliance. This includes Child
- Protection Policy awareness and safety training for contractors and service providers.
- Play a pivotal role in shaping our long-term strategy for the campus and identifying new opportunities to enable our mission.
