Job Description:
To Provide Medical Expertise in Oncology

- To provide regular teaching to medical officers/registrars
- Attend regular multi-disciplinary team meetings
- To assist with reviewing new cancer patients in the clinic.
- Support patients holistically and refer appropriately for social, emotional and spiritual care
- To derive and supervise treatment plans including managing toxicities with junior doctors
- Maintain meticulous and thorough medical records in accordance with legal and ethical guidelines
- Be part of clinical research and trials and contribute to cancer research
- Counselling of cancer patients and their families
- To discuss different treatment options with patients/families
- Performing basic administrative and clerical tasks, such as keeping records of test results, writing prescriptions, providing cancer information to patients, and monitoring treatment plans.
Job Requirements:
- Knowledge of ethical medical practice.
- Good interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to deal with all medical emergencies.
- Willingness to assess, diagnose and manage cancer patients
- A thorough and up-to-date working knowledge of cancers and cancer treatment options
Qualification & Experience:
- 5 years’ experience as a medical officer
- Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery or equivalent degree in Oncology
- Registration certificate with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) as a Medical Specialist
- 1 year oncology experience will be an added advantage
- Proven work experience as an Oncologist or similar role
