Job Description:
The CCBR is looking for a suitably qualified persons to take on the responsibilities of project researcher for research projects implemented at the Sweetwaters office. The successful candidates will be assigned to multi-year projects to implement and evaluate health interventions to reach identified population groups in the communities designated for the research study.

- Monitoring performance as per the HSRC performance management and appraisal processes
- Ensuring study data is correctly stored and uploaded using data technology provided
- Disseminating research findings through various local, national and international fora and networks
- Fostering a culture of continuous learning through ongoing assessment of study activities, processes and systems
- Planning, organising and overseeing assigned research tasks so that operational and scientific goals are achieved
- Coordinating and planning research activities to ensure the work is conducted smoothly, ethically, and completed to deadlines
- Adhering to ethical conduct requirements at all times in the field and office
- Conducting quality assurance steps of to ensure protocol fidelity
- Contributing to cross study site activities
- Where necessary, working with the site outreach component to secure community entry and facilitate community preparation for study activities to be conducted;
- Carrying out any other activities deemed necessary for the success of the research tasks assigned.
- Actively participating on regular research team calls with international and local collaborators
- Working closely with the scientific team and study staff to support an active publication and dissemination strategy
- Supervising and supporting fieldwork personnel assigned to research tasks
- Managing assigned short term research tasks or project phases
- Ensuring regular documentation and reporting on the scientific, ethical and financial requirements of the study
- Maintaining documentation and records of all field activities, and prepare field reports
- Supporting the management of the budget and finances of assigned tasks, ensuring appropriate use of funds for designated purposes
Job Requirements:
- Ability to use Microsoft Excel
- A valid and unendorsed driver’s license
- Previous experience with mobile data collection
- Strong quantitative analytic skills and demonstrable experience using SPSS or similar statistical software.
- Experience with multi-phase projects
- Ability to work to strict deadlines and attention to detail
- Ability to use Microsoft Word
- Good interpersonal, organisational and problem solving skills
- A Masters degree or confirmation of completion of a Masters degree
- An Honours degree in the social and human sciences or related fields.
- Ability to work accurately, independently and in a team
- Minimum 2 years’ research experience.
- Fluency in English and isiZulu
- Experience working in urban, peri-urban and rural communities, and willingness to work after hours and over weekends and in rural communities
