Job Description:
To enable the creation of business value at SPARK Schools using the appropriate and aligned systems and technological solutions. The ability to think at a strategic level to assist all business units in the selection, implementation and operation of systems which will eliminate operational and tactical issues before they arise.
Job Responsibilities:
- Craft the system blueprint that outlines the system architecture and the flow of information from one system to another
- Ensure systems and data are adequately protected and can be recovered in an incident to agreed levels (data protection, disaster recovery and business continuity)
- Provide training to members of staff at all levels to inform them of changes to systems, processes and usage protocols
- Ensure data is protected, secured across our systems, and not accessible to unauthorized users in adherence to POPI Act, GDPR and other data legistions
- Ensure systems’ stability by implementing change control and release management per ITIL
- Identify source and target systems and the integration type across our system ecosystem
- Ensure effective IT Governance is adhered to, in accordance to COBIT
- Map out the end-to-end SPARK Schools system ecosystem
- Design and manage appropriate information security controls in line with SPARK Schools objectives, compliance requirements, and existing environmental risk
- Interrogate the current technology architecture and system landscape with an intent of identifying inefficiencies, and implement corrective actions
- Ensure the Information Technology structure is optimally configured to deliver excellent service, and that the IT team is adequately skilled and supported to do such
- Ensure policies and procedures are in place and maintained for relevant IT functions within your control
- Regular review and reporting of systems’ performance to senior management
- Provide recommendations to ensure that services and infrastructure operate efficiently and are continuously improved
- Maintain and report on a record of IT operational risks and interventions
- Oversee, manage and offer support on all Systems and Technology contracts according to agreed levels of delivery
- Provide technical assistance to the Technology team with the programming techniques and debugging, platforms and frameworks to achieve team’s goals
- Measure quantitatively and qualitatively the usefulness of each system deployed
- Identify gaps with the change deployment process and recommend remedial actions that will lead to optimal operation to support business according to agreed principles (i.e. performance, availability, service level and capacity metrics).
- Guide the technological direction of SPARK Schools by constructing business plans, overseeing network security and directing online operations
- Lead all systems and technology initiatives
Job Requirements:
- COBIT (Control Objectives for Information Technologies)
- ITIL and COBIT certification would be a great advantage
- ITIL Service Lifecycle (Information Technology Infrastructure Library)
- ERP software experience
- BSc / BCom in Computer Science, Information Systems, Systems Engineering or any other related degrees
- Grit: Persistence through challenges.
- Cloud-based Enterprise Service Bus / Middleware layer and system integration maintenance approaches
- Excellence: A track record of high expectations personally and professionally.
- 5 to 10 years experience all aspects of cloud computing (infrastructure, storage, platforms and data) and working with a variety of technology systems, designing solutions, or developing business applications
- Payment gateway/billing
