Job Description:

Lead the Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) agenda, roll-out the ERM programme and provide ERM support to Sasol Mining driving required risk studies, assessments and reviews. Ensure integrated risk studies, assessments or reviews are completed as it may relate to strategy execution and value chain risk considerations. Serve as the single point ERM contact within Sasol Mining for management of Mining’s top risks on an integrated basis and act as primary interface with the Energy and Group ERM Functions. Ensure adequate integration with other risk-based functions within Sasol Mining, Energy and the Group, as well as provide Sasol Mining regional risk support to functions as required. Ensure application of Sasol’s Risk Policy, ERM Framework, ERM Procedures, Processes and Standards/Guidelines as provided by Group and Energy ERM Functions. Ensure entire ERM governance and reporting processes are followed within the business and operations, as it relates to area of responsibility, including sign-off by management and executives. Job Responsibilities:

• Work with the combined assurance team to implement combined assurance management principles across Sasol Mining’s top risks and develop combined assurance plans / landscapes where agreed and required.
• Act as a primary interface and first point of contact for all ERM requests and support. Ensure effective business and operations partnering and management of key stakeholder relationships critical to drive effective management of risk in the short, medium and longer-terms.
• Train businesses on tools, policies and procedure. Accurate reporting by businesses.
• Driving improved predictability as it relates to potential risk impact on business performance and delivery on objectives.
• Understand Group top risks, Mining and Energy entity and consolidated top risks and relevance for area of responsibility. Act as sounding board for business and operations manging and assessing risks, as well as developing and executing key responses / critical controls.
• Facilitate internal and external audit of the business by providing necessary materials and access Audit preparation in place and on time. Implementation of corrective/remedial actions as identified through assurance processes. Audit findings actioned and implemented.
• Risk register developed, updated and critical controls identified, designed adequately and operating effectiveness monitored.
• Drive risk thinking within the business/operations and promote a risk aware culture. Risk culture embedded throughout the business/function governance structure.
• Ensure an optimal and effective ERM program anchored in Sasol Mining’s top risks with required integration with other key risk, assurance and control role-players.
• Drive risk processes in the business. Apply tools, methodologies, processes and frameworks as laid out by the Energy and Group ERM functions.
• Risk reports completed and signed off by management and/or executives on time.

Qualification & Experience:

• 5+ years’ experience in Mining
• University Bachelor’s Degree
• Post Graduate Qualification in Risk Management (preferred)
• 11+ relevant years in ERM or related fields
