Job Description: The main purpose of this position is to conduct climate-related and general economic analyses and reporting in support of policymaking. [the_ad id="21943"] Job Responsibilities: Support senior staff members in their local and international engagements. Provide reliable economic and financial analysis on climate-related risks and policy changes that hold implications for the South African Reserve Bank (SARB). Produce general macroeconomic analysis. Support the execution of the SARB’s climate change programme. Develop policy recommendations and assist with policy implementation. Assist and provide input related to the project-based performance assessment of team members. Assist with the development of research related to climate change and a policy agenda. Communicate with, and make presentations to, various internal and external stakeholders, as requested. Contribute, where applicable, to the department’s work for the Monetary Policy Committee, the Monetary Policy Review and other internal and external publications. Present within the SARB and at external forums. Job Requirements: Be in possession of a Master’s degree in Economics or a related field; and Have eight or more years’ experience as an economist. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills in both verbal and written English; Work independently as well as within a team/project environment; Original thinking and strong initiative and drive; Ability to pay attention to detail; Ability to network and professionally engage with stakeholders; Task-oriented with time-management skills to operate in a deadline-driven environment; Macroeconomic modelling and/or international macroeconomic modelling; Knowledge of central banking; Analytical skills; Presentation skills; and Innovative problem-solving skills.
