Job Description:

The appointment of a School Nurse (boarding) is intended to build excellence in the Healthcare domain in the College. In independent schools, Nurses are responsible for the health and welfare of children, staff and visitors at the school and their personal and professional responsibility and skills are expected to be of the highest calibre.

Job Responsibilities:

• Monitor student immunization records.
• Educate pupils and staff on health procedures.
• Strong communication skills to work with doctors, parents, pupils and other health care providers.
• Assessment, treatment and timeous referral to health care providers.
• Prepared to work within the College’s nursing and boarding teams
• Providing a clinically effective, high-quality service of nursing care to pupils and staff.
• Providing First Aid care to all members of the College community.
• Appropriate (medical) confidential counselling of pupils and staff.
• Management and ordering of stock, including billing.
• Consult with teachers, administrators, and other College staff regarding student care.
• Administer medication.
• Involvement in, and implementation of, health and safety protocols.
• Accurate and concise record keeping.

Job Requirements:

• Computer literacy (MS office).
• Current BLS and First Aid Level 3.
• Enrolled Nurse (SANC registered).
• Drivers Licence.
• Ability to work shifts, weekends and on call duties as required by the needs of the College.
• Previous school nursing would be an advantage.
• Strong work ethic and good team player.
