Job Description:
Applications are not required to submit copies of qualifications and other relevant documents but must fill a new Z83 form (obtainable from any Public Service Department or on www.dpsa.gov.za/documents) accompanied by a comprehensive CV highlighting or stating the requirements mentioned above. Failure to submit the required documents will result in the application not being considered. Qualifications of candidates recommended for appointment will be verified. Persons in possession of foreign qualification must furnish the Department with the evaluation certificate from the South African Qualification Authority (SAQA).

- Operate and maintain security equipment’s.
- Provide directions to staff, patients, visitors and contractors.
- Switch on and off lights in your area of responsibility.
- Implementations of security policies and other prescripts.
- Attend meetings as approved by the supervisor.
- Assist with the restraining of patients. Conduct hourly patrols. Control of traffic on premises.
- Access control and searching of both vehicles and pedestrians.
- Write statements and testify in courts.
- Be willing to undergo continuous training and development programmes.
- Report security breaches and defects.
- Perform other duties as allocated by the supervisors.
- Protect State Properties, employees, visitors and patients in the hospital for 24 hours.
- Escort patients, visitors and contractors.
- Write and submit report to the supervisor as soon as possible.
Job Requirements:
- Ability to handle confidential information.
- Sound verbal and written communication skills.
- Knowledge and application of Batho Pele Principles.
- Must be prepared to rotate and work shifts which include weekends, night shift and day shift and Public Holidays.
- Good telephone etiquette and interpersonal skills.
- Skill in dealing with the Public. Knowledge of control room.
- Ability to communicate well with people at different levels and from different backgrounds.
- Knowledge of Firearm control Act, Control of Access to Public Premises and Vehicle Act, Trespass Act.
- Must be able to work under pressure, take initiative, and work independently and with a team.
Qualification & Experience:
- Grade 10 with 5 years’ experience or Grade 12 with 2 years’ experience. A grade C valid PSIRA Certificate.
