Job Description:

The purpose of this role is to provide a safe and productive supporting service with secondary /auxiliary equipment to Mining Operations. This role includes the operating of all secondary /auxiliary equipment applicable to the area of responsibility, for a minimum of x3 equipment pieces as indicated by the multi-licensing /multiskilling process within Mining Operations.

Job Responsibilities:

• Ensure Pre- and post-shift inspections are done diligently to ensure equipment are functional and can be operated safely.
• Record all inspections done on equipment and any deviations on the pre-shift inspection lists, and report deviations immediately to
• Supervisor to ensure it receives proper attention.
• Safety signs and equipment in allocated areas must be cleaned, visible, legible and fit for use.
• Spilled material / waste collected must be correctly sorted and dumped at dedicated areas to ensure no further pollution or contamination takes place.
• Executing instructions received from the Supervisor in operating equipment.
• Operate equipment per prescribed procedures to lengthen life of equipment and to minimize delays and financial losses
• The inspection includes functionality and general condition of the equipment piece to be operated, general safety, to ensure damages can be prevented and no injuries caused to people in operating the equipment, and to minimise the impact of financial losses when operating the equipment (minimising tyre damages, improve diesel consumption where possible, and reduce unnecessary long delays etc).
• Fire extinguishers & lock-out devices are inspected prior to starting a shift and any deviations are reported immediately to the supervisor
• Ensure on-going, good housekeeping standards are maintained by cleaning of work areas /or designated and allocated work areas, as well as any other areas as indicated to by the Supervisor.
• Ensure the secondary / auxiliary equipment is cleaned with the appropriate tools and according to the required standards.
• Visual inspection of equipment’s condition is done at the end of the shift and deviations are reported to the supervisor
• All reported abnormalities are followed up continuously to resolve it.

Job Requirements:

• Correct Dover level.
• Valid Driver’s License
• Fitness for work as per Mine Health and Safety Standards

Qualification & Experience:

• Grade 12 / N3 / FET Level 4 Certificate Minimum
• 1-2 years’ experience within the Mining environment and or operating Secondary / Auxiliary equipment is recommended.
